Upsell offer

An overview of creating Upsell offer with BOGOS

This overview of creating upsell offers will help you get started with upselling using the BOGOS app to scale your business.

1. Offer types

1.1. Checkout upsell (Shopify Plus only)

Checkout upsell allows you to show relevant recommendations directly on the checkout page to capture last-minute purchases before payment.

Example: A customer buying a pair of shoes sees an offer to add matching socks at a 20% discount when they’re at the checkout page.

1.2. Frequently bought together

Frequently bought together displays a group of complementary products often purchased alongside the item they are currently viewing.

Example: When shopping for a camera, customers typically see a 'frequently bought together' section featuring items like memory cards and tripods.

1.3. Thank you page upsell

Thank you page upsell refers to a sales tactic where you offer complementary products on the thank you page, right after customers have completed a purchase.

Example: In the cosmetics industry, after purchasing a skincare set, customers are always offered a discounted face mask that they can add to their cart immediately.

2. Key features

2.1. Upsell trigger

  • Always display upsell: Show the upsell offer to all customers, regardless of what they add to their cart.

  • Selected products: Only display the upsell when the cart contains the specific product you choose.

  • All except selected products: Show the upsell unless the cart contains the product you exclude.

  • Selected collections/types/vendor: Trigger the upsell when customers add products from certain collections, product types, or vendors.

  • All except selected collections/types/vendor: Display upsell for all except for selected collections, types, or vendors.

2.2. Upsell method

  • Manual: You will manually select the product to upsell.

  • Auto: BOGOS will auto-select upsell products based on the data synchronized with the Shopify Search & Discovery app.

  • Random: Choose a random product from an in-selected type, vendor, or collection.

2.3. Discount type

  • Percentage: A percentage-based discount to the upsell item.

  • Amount: Deduct a fixed amount from the upsell product’s price.

  • Cheapest item free: Automatically makes the lowest-priced item among the upsell products free as a discount type.

2.4. Combination

This feature allows you to untick each checkbox to disable the combination with other discounts, including order discounts or shipping discounts.
